This is a colorful abstract painting by Jason Stephen, Nashville's Painter of Music in Motion. This painting was inspired by the music of Jimmy Hendrix from his album: "Electric Ladyland".

All the paintings that I create are painted with acrylics on canvas and are inspired by different styles of music. When beginning a piece of work, I pick colors that are appealing, stimulating, and draw attention to the eye to create a pleasurable experience for the viewer. I do not start painting until I become emersed in the music. Then what I create is "pure abstract" because it reflects the motion of the music. When I paint to rock, pop, or alternative music, it inspires me to create dark or bright colors, dense lines and circular motions. Jazz music inspires contrasting vibrant colors and dynamic shapes. Classical music inspires lighter tone colors and free flowing designs. Country music moves me to capture the emotion that it...
